How To Hear the Voice of God

Hello family! Lately, God has put me in a season where I must trust him with all my heart and depend solely on him to get me through any obstacle that I am facing.  I’ve been more intentional about releasing worry and anxiety by praying to God about situations that cause me stress and that are beyond my control. I am learning to seek to hear only God’s voice when I am unsure of which direction or path to take next because it affirms and gives me clarity. This brings me to the message that I would like to share with you today on how to hear God’s voice.

The first thing that you must do to hear His voice is to quiet your mind and eliminate distractions by meditating on His Word. Reading devotionals and finding relevant scriptures that minister to your situation or problem can help you apply the Word to your life.

“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it.”

Joshua 1:8 NKJV

Second, you must stay in his presence through prayer and worship. Prayer is a way to communicate with God, while worship is a way to show reverence and gratitude for His blessings. Whenever I make it a priority to pray and worship Him, my burden is lifted and my faith is elevated to a new level.

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.”

Philippians 4:6 NKJV

God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

John 4:24 NKJV

Thirdly, open your heart and ask God to purify it of anything that may hinder your mind from receiving His messages. When I ask the Lord to renew my heart, I can release unforgiveness and redirect my focus on Him.

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”

Psalms 51:10 NKJV

Make sure you are open to receiving his messages and write down what he reveals to you. By keeping an open mind and being prepared to receive his messages, you can unlock valuable insights that may otherwise go unnoticed. Don’t forget to jot down what he reveals to you – that way, you’ll be able to refer to these revelations later and fully integrate them into your life.

Lastly, to recognize God’s voice and distinguish it from your thoughts, remember that His voice brings peace, and healing, shapes your future, and gives you hope and promise.

“For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.”

I Corinthians 14:33 NKJV

“For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

Be Blessed,
