Hello Sassy family! Have you ever found yourself trying so hard to fit in, be accepted, or prove your worth to someone that you started becoming a version of yourself you didn’t even recognize?
The constant overthinking, trying to say the right thing, showing up a little harder, giving a little more, and hoping that maybe this time they’ll finally see your value.
There was a time when I was so focused on trying to be “enough” for other people that I started changing myself just to fit where I thought I belonged. I thought if I could just be more helpful, more available, more understanding, more accommodating, maybe I would finally get the attention, appreciation, and acceptance I was looking for.
The attention I received was often bare minimum and sometimes it only showed up when I was needed.
And after all that effort to prove myself and earn my place, they still ended up choosing someone else.
In trying so hard to be chosen by them, I had stopped choosing ME.
I had lost pieces of myself trying to become someone I thought they would value.
This quote was laid on my heart to share with you because I believe someone needs this reminder just as much as I did:
“How many cares one loses when one decides not to be something, but to be someone.” ~ Coco Chanel
Coco Chanel’s words is a reminder that you don’t have to become “something” for other people to recognize your value. You are called to be someone “authentically YOU”.
Being “something” can mean constantly performing.
Be prettier.
Be smarter.
Be more accommodating.
Be more successful.
Be more useful.
Be whatever keeps them interested.
But being someone means knowing who you are, even when nobody is applauding.
It means having an identity that doesn’t change based on who is in the room.
It means knowing your worth without needing someone else to validate it.
There is so much peace in that. Because when you stop trying to convince people of your worth, you lose the exhausting need to constantly prove yourself.
Today, I’m learning that I don’t want to be someone’s convenient option. I don’t want attention that only shows up when I’m useful. I don’t want to lose myself trying to earn a place in someone’s life.

Reflection
Where have you been trying to be “something” for someone else instead of allowing yourself to simply be YOU?
Maybe your next chapter isn’t about becoming more of what everyone else wants.
Maybe it’s about becoming more of who you were created to be.
Because the moment you stop trying to be everything to everyone is the moment you finally have the freedom to become someone YOU are proud of.
Stay Sassy. Stay Spirit-led. Stay Savvy.
