“As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.” ~Psalm 42:1–2 (NKJV)
Hello family! Have you ever been in a season where you realize just how much you need God?
Not just when things are going well. Not just when you need an answer. Not just when you need Him to fix something.
But when you need Him just to make it through the day.
There are seasons in life when our strength feels limited, our minds feel overwhelmed, and we don’t always know what tomorrow will bring. We may try to figure everything out, control the outcome, or find peace in other people and circumstances but eventually, we realize that nothing can satisfy our souls like God can.
Lately, God has been reminding me to put my trust in Him and to seek Him with both my heart and my mind.
In difficult moments, I’ve found that strength and peace of mind doesn’t come from knowing exactly how everything will work out. It comes from trusting God.
When I seek Him, He reminds me that He is still God even when I don’t understand the season I’m in.
If you can relate this in, Psalms 42:1-2 was laid on my heart to share with you.
This scripture reminds us what it looks like to desire God.
The psalmist compares his longing for God to a deer desperately searching for water.
Water isn’t optional for survival. We go looking for it because we need it.
That’s the kind of hunger and thirst God is calling us to have for Him.
Chase after God like your soul needs Him the way your body needs water to live.
Don’t wait until you’re completely depleted to run to the Source.
I’m learning that seeking God isn’t just something I do when I need Him to change my circumstances.
It’s something I do because I need Him to strengthen me in the middle of them.
There are things I may not be able to control. There are situations I may not understand. There are moments when I may have to keep moving forward even when the road ahead isn’t clear.
But I can choose where I place my trust.
And in this season, I’m choosing to place it in God.
The closer I draw to God, the more He reminds me that I don’t have to manufacture my own peace.
I can receive it from Him.
You don’t have to have everything figured out before you seek God.
You don’t have to be strong before you come to Him.
You don’t have to clean up your emotions before you pray.
Come thirsty. Come honestly. Come just as you are.
Let your soul develop such a hunger for God that nothing else can take His place.
Because just like our bodies need water to live, our souls need the living God.
And sometimes the very thing we’ve been searching for in people, circumstances, validation, or answers is found when we simply turn our hearts back toward Him.
Chase after God. Trust Him. Seek Him. Stay close to Him.
Reflection:
What would change in your life if you intentionally sought God first every day trusting Him as your source of strength, peace, and direction?
Prayer:
God,thank You for reminding me that You are the living God and the true source of my strength. When my heart becomes weary and my mind becomes overwhelmed, help me turn toward You instead of trying to carry everything on my own.
Teach me to seek You with my whole heart and mind. Give me a deeper hunger and thirst for Your presence, Your Word, and Your wisdom.
Strengthen me when I’m tired. Calm my mind when I’m anxious. Give me wisdom when I’m uncertain. And help me continue chasing after You, knowing that everything I truly need is found in You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Stay Sassy. Stay Spirit-led. Stay Savvy.
Live Faithfully!
