Sassy Mindset💋: Your Light Was Never the Problem

“Nothing can dim the light that shines within.” ~Maya Angelou

Hello Sassy family! Have you ever made yourself smaller just to make other people comfortable, or stayed quiet because you were afraid that being your authentic self might mean being rejected?

For a long time, I struggled with dimming my own light.

I tried not to stand out.

I tried to fit in.

I held back parts of myself so others would feel comfortable.

I sought acceptance even when it meant abandoning pieces of who I truly was.

And the more I dimmed my light, the more I began to doubt my value and question my worth.

I stayed too long in relationships that didn’t embrace the real me, respect who I was, or encourage me to grow into the woman God created me to be.

I confused being accepted with being loved.

But I’ve learned a powerful lesson:

The right people won’t require you to become less of yourself to belong in their lives.

You should never have to shrink your personality, silence your voice, hide your gifts, or minimize your dreams just to keep someone around.

Your light was never the problem.

Maybe the problem was trying to shine in places that only felt comfortable when you were dim.

Stop dimming yourself for people who benefit from your darkness.

Stop asking, “How can I be more acceptable?”

Start asking, “Where can I be fully myself and still be loved, respected, and encouraged to grow?”

God didn’t give you your light so you could hide it. He gave it to you for a reason.

And if someone only loves you when you’re smaller, quieter, or less confident…

Don’t dim your light.

Find a place where you can shine.

Affirmations:

I will no longer shrink to be accepted.

I will no longer question my worth to keep someone else.

I will no longer apologize for becoming who God created me to be.

I choose authenticity over acceptance.

I choose self-love over self-abandonment.

I choose to SHINE.

Your light is not too bright.

You just need to stop handing the dimmer switch to other people.

Live fearlessly,
