Soul Food ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ๐Ÿชด๐Ÿ’—โ€ฆBuilt For More: Standing on Purpose

โ€œSo I sent messengers to them saying, โ€œI am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down. Why should the work cease while I leave it and go down to you?โ€

Nehemiah 6:3 NKJV

Hello family! Have you ever been so focused on something or finishing a project that you didnโ€™t want to stop until it was done? You ignored the calls, the distractions, and maybe even the urge to quit, because deep down you knew it mattered. Thatโ€™s exactly the kind of determination Nehemiah had in Nehemiah 6:3, where he says, โ€œI am doing a great work and I cannot come down.โ€

This powerful verse was shared with me last week, and now I feel led to share it with you. I pray it encourages anyone who is doing a great work but finds themselves facing distractions meant to break your focus and keep you from finishing.

It is more than a statement, itโ€™s a mindset. Nehemiah was rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem, and when distractions came, he refused to be pulled away from his assignment. His response wasnโ€™t rooted in arroganceโ€”it was grounded in purpose.

This verse speaks directly to your journey. Whether youโ€™re building a business, launching a vision, healing your heart, or stepping into new territoryโ€ฆ you are doing a great work. And like Nehemiah, you donโ€™t have time to come down.

Let this encourage you to stay focused, guard your purpose. Donโ€™t let anything pull you away from it. Your calling is too important. Your growth is too sacred. You donโ€™t need to prove yourselfโ€ฆjust keep building. Stay focused, stay faithfulโ€”what youโ€™re building matters, and itโ€™s worth finishing.

You are doing a great work. And you cannot come down.

Live faithfully!

More Than a Fairy Tale: Trusting Godโ€™s Promise for Love

Hello family! Have you ever felt like God placed a specific love story in your heart? A story so beautiful that it feels like something out of a fairy tale?

Lately, God has been gently reminding me of the promise He planted within me. Heโ€™s showing me that the love story He has for me will unfold like a fairy tale written by His hand, full of wonder, growth, and a love thatโ€™s worth the wait.

As a little girl, I would spend hours playing with dolls, creating my own worlds and storylines. I didnโ€™t know it then, but even as a child, I was shaping what I believed a healthy relationship and family could look like. Through those playtime moments, I wasnโ€™t just passing the time I was building the blueprint for the love I aspired to experience and the life I dreamed of living. I now realize that what I created was a reflection of what my heart deeply desired for myself.

Even now, God is showing me that the love story Heโ€™s placed in my heart is not just a childish dream. Itโ€™s a promise.

Fairy tales arenโ€™t just about magical moments and happy endings. Theyโ€™re about the journey, the challenges, the waiting, and the discovery. In every fairy tale, the main character often faces detours, obstacles, and moments of doubt. Sometimes, they feel overlooked, forgotten, or stuck in an in-between season, unsure if their story will ever unfold the way they hoped.

But what makes a fairy tale beautiful is that the Author always knows the ending.

God is reminding me to wait with the same kind of hope.

To wait with trust.

To wait with patience.

To believe that even in the waiting, my story is being written, and every chapter has purpose.

Sometimes waiting feels like standing on the sidelines, watching everyone elseโ€™s story unfold while wondering if mine was ever real. But God is teaching me that I donโ€™t have to write the story myself. I donโ€™t have to chase it, force it, or settle for something less. I just have to trust the One who is writing it.

The love story God placed in my heart will be one of adventure, authenticity, and deep connectionโ€ฆLike the best fairy tales, where love finds you in the most unexpected way, where the journey matters just as much as the ending, and where the story is even more beautiful than you imagined.

If God has placed a love story in your heart, trust that Heโ€™s not teasing you. Heโ€™s teaching you. Every season of waiting, every detour, and every quiet moment is part of a divine script only He could write. Donโ€™t rush the Author.

The story Heโ€™s writing for you will be more beautiful, more meaningful, and more full of purpose than anything you could have imagined. Keep believing. Your fairy tale is unfoldingโ€ฆone faithful page at a time.

Live faithfully!

Sassy Mindset๐Ÿ’‹โ€ฆLiving for Breathtaking Moments

Hello Sassy family! Have you ever found yourself simply going through the motions, checking boxes, and wondering if youโ€™re truly living or just existing? I struggle with this all of the time.

Maya Angelouโ€™s quote is a reminder that challenges us to shift our focus from merely surviving to fully embracing the experiences that ignite our souls.

We often carry many rolesโ€”caregiver, leader, friend, partner, dreamer. In the midst of our responsibilities, itโ€™s easy to get lost in routines and miss the extraordinary moments life offers. But Mayaโ€™s words call us higher. They invite us to seek out joy, wonder, purpose, and moments that make our hearts raceโ€”not just tasks that fill our calendars.

How Do We Create Breathtaking Moments?

Be Present: Lifeโ€™s magic often happens in the little thingsโ€”a makeover, witnessing a sunrise, a simple victory after hard work. Slow down and notice them.

Take Bold Steps: The moments that take our breath away often require courage. Say yes to the adventure, speak up for yourself, pursue the passion that scares you.

Celebrate Yourself: You are worthy of joy, love, and awe-filled experiences. Donโ€™t postpone your happiness waiting for a perfect time.

Maya Angelouโ€™s wisdom pushes us to stop counting the days and start making the days count. You donโ€™t need grand, cinematic moments to live fullyโ€”you need authentic, intentional ones that remind you youโ€™re alive.

So, whatโ€™s one thing you can do today that will take your breath away?

Start there. Live there. Your life is waiting.

Live on purpose!

Love Always,

Soul Food๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ๐Ÿชด๐Ÿฉทโ€ฆWhen Plans Change: Trusting the Lord of the Path

“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”

-Proverbs 16:9 NIV

Hello, family! Have you ever made detailed plans for your lifeโ€”mapped out steps and envisioned outcomesโ€”only to find that God took you in a completely different direction? Perhaps you thought you knew the path, only to discover you were walking one you never expected. If this has happened to you, you’re not alone. Proverbs 16:9 gently reminds us of a deeper truth: while we plan our path, God ultimately establishes our steps.

I want to encourage both you and me that, even though we may not see His plans for our lives at this moment, He will reveal them to us in stages throughout our journey. Speaking from experience, facing the unknown and surrendering control is not easy. At times, your faith may feel like it is running on empty, but we must believe in the goodness and consistency of God’s character. Everything happens so we can evolve and grow for our good.

The truth is, our perspective is limited. We plan based on what we see, but God guides us based on what He knows. Surrendering to His direction does not mean we stop planning; rather, it means we hold our plans loosely and trust His wisdom above our own. Itโ€™s like drawing a map and then handing the compass to Someone who knows the terrain far better than we do.

Have you ever seen your plans completely fall apart, only to later realize that God was protecting you or redirecting you to something better? Proverbs 16:9 is often understood only in hindsight. The first part of the verseโ€”โ€œIn their hearts humans plan their courseโ€โ€”acknowledges that planning is a natural and good part of our lives. Weโ€™re meant to be intentional with our time, relationships, and work. However, if we plan without God, we risk moving in a direction that leads us away from His best.

Inviting God into the planning process means praying before acting, listening before deciding, and trusting even when things donโ€™t go the way we hoped. Every step we take, even the ones that feel like detours, is guided by a God who sees the full picture.

Reflection Questions:

  • Have you experienced a time when your plans were redirected by God?
  • How do you typically respond when things donโ€™t go according to your plan?
  • Whatโ€™s one way you can invite God into your planning this week?

A Prayer:

Lord, I bring my plans before You today. I lay down my desire for control and invite You to direct my steps. Help me to trust that Your way is always better, even when it looks different from mine. Thank You for being the One who guides my path. Amen.

Be Encouraged and Live Faithfully!

Sassy Mindset๐Ÿ’‹โ€ฆYou Are More Powerful Than You Think

Hello my Sassy family! Have you ever felt powerless?

I haveโ€”more times than Iโ€™d like to admit. There have been seasons in my life where I underestimated my power, not because I didnโ€™t have any, but because I got lost in how others see me or comparing myself to others. I allowed peopleโ€™s perceptions of me to define my worth, placing myself in a box I didnโ€™t belong in. I dimmed my light, silenced my voice, and questioned my own valueโ€”all because I forgot that I had power to begin with.

This quote is a reminder that personal power begins in the mind. Too often, people accept limitations that were never truly theirsโ€”whether imposed by fear, society, past mistakes, or self-doubt.

We must reflect on the silent ways we surrender our influence and how reclaiming our power starts with believing in our worth, voice, and ability to create change.

You donโ€™t have to be in a position of status to make an impact. Your thoughts, choices, and courage matter. Recognizing that you do have powerโ€”right nowโ€”is the first step toward living boldly, authentically, and purposefully.

Stop waiting for permission to be powerful. You already are.

Live fearless!

Love always,

“Listen, my sons, to a father’s instruction. Pay attention and gain understanding.

I give you sound learning, so do not forsake my teaching. For I too was a son to my father, still tender and cherished by my mother.

Then he taught me, and he said to me, โ€˜Take hold of my words with all your heart. Keep my commands, and you will live.โ€

~Proverbs 4:1-4 (NIV)

Hello and Happy Father’s day, family! Today, we celebrate all of the amazing fathers, father figures, and those who love with the depth and dedication of a father. You are the unsung heroes who shape our lives with unwavering support, endless sacrifices, and timeless wisdom. Your love leaves a lasting impact, creating memories that will be cherished for years to come.

Thank you for everything you do. May you enjoy today, and every day, knowing how deeply you are appreciated and loved!

Proverbs 4:1-4 reminds us that thereโ€™s something powerful about a father passing wisdom to his children. In the scripture, we get a glimpse of a sacred conversationโ€”a father instructing his sons with a heart full of experience, love, and spiritual depth.

Solomon urges his children to listen and pay attention, because what heโ€™s sharing is not ordinary adviceโ€”itโ€™s a treasure passed down from his own father, King David. This is a generational chain of godly instruction, a legacy built on truth and grounded in relationship.

In a world filled with noise and distraction, the voice of a father teaching with godly wisdom is both rare and needed. This passage reminds us that sound instruction is not meant to controlโ€”itโ€™s meant to give life. Solomon says, โ€œTake hold of my words with all your heart; keep my commands, and you will live.โ€

This is more than obedienceโ€”itโ€™s an invitation to cling to truth with all that we are. Itโ€™s a father saying, โ€œIโ€™ve walked this path. I know what matters. I want you to flourish.โ€

Whether or not we had a present or godly earthly father, the verse points us to our Heavenly Fatherโ€”whose instruction is always good, always life-giving, and always worth holding onto.

This passage also reminds us that we each have a role in shaping someone elseโ€™s spiritual journey. Whether as parents, mentors, teachers, or friends, weโ€™re called to pass on wisdom that leads to life. What we model and speak has the power to echo through generations.

Reflection:

Am I listening for the voice of wisdom in my daily life? What godly instruction have I been given that I need to hold on to? How can I become a faithful voice of wisdom in the lives of others?

Let us receive the Fatherโ€™s instruction with open hearts, and then become faithful stewards of that wisdomโ€”passing it on with love, truth, and humility.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your life-giving instruction. Teach me to treasure Your wisdom and walk in it daily. Help me to share it with others, just as it has been shared with me. Amen.

Live Faithfully. Honor the Fatherโ€™s Voice. Pass On the Legacy. ๐Ÿ’›

Soul Food๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ๐Ÿชด๐Ÿฉทโ€ฆ Dancing Again: Godโ€™s Promise of Joy

โ€œThen young women will dance and be glad, young men and old as well. I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.โ€ โ€” Jeremiah 31:13 (NIV)

Hello family! Have you ever felt like the music of your life justโ€ฆstopped? Like sorrow silenced your joy, and dancing felt like a distant memory? God sees that place. In Jeremiah 31:13, He speaks directly into seasons of deep weariness, offering a breathtaking promise to His children: โ€œYou will dance again.โ€

This verse reminds us that not only does sorrow come to an endโ€”it is transformed. Grief gives way to gladness, pain is reshaped into comfort, and despair blossoms into joy. In the hands of grace, even our deepest sorrows become the foundation of renewed hope.

In moments when hope feels distant, we must always hold onto the truth that God remains faithful and unchanging. He is the One who meets us in the valley, who catches every tear, and who gently restores our ability to laugh, sing, and yesโ€”even dance. Whether youโ€™re young or seasoned, weary or waiting, this promise is for you. Your joy is not lost. Your story is not over.

The God who walks with you in mourning is the same God who leads you into dancing.

Prayer:

Lord, I bring You every piece of my sorrow, every ache Iโ€™ve carried in silence. Thank You for being the God who turns mourning into gladness. Restore my joy. Help me believe that laughter and dancing are still part of my story. I trust You to make all things new. Amen.

Encouragement for Today:

Your present tears do not cancel your future joy. God is already at work, turning your sorrow into a celebration.

Stay Encouraged and Live Faithfully!

Soul Food๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ๐Ÿชด๐Ÿฉทโ€ฆClothed in Strength and Dignity

“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.”

Proverbs 31:25-26 NIV

Happy Mother’s Day everyone! Today, we celebrate all the incredible moms, mother figures, and those who love like a mother!

In a world that demands so much of usโ€”professionally, personally, emotionallyโ€”Proverbs 31:25โ€“26 offers a picture of a woman who is unshaken. She is not overwhelmed by the chaos around her. Instead, she is clothedโ€”wrapped, covered, definedโ€”by strength and dignity. She looks to the future not with fear, but with laughter. And when she speaks, her words are wise, kind, and faithful.

This woman is not perfect by worldly standards, but her life reflects the fruit of a deep walk with God. These verses are a reminder that our value is not in our performance, appearance, or accomplishmentsโ€”but in our character, and in the God who empowers us.

Reflection Question:

What would it look like in your life to be “clothed” in strength and dignity today?

Application

  • Spend time with God daily, allowing Him to clothe you in His truth and strength.
  • Practice speaking intentionallyโ€”pause before you respond and ask, โ€œIs this wise? Is it kind?โ€
  • Release fear about the future. Instead, laughโ€”knowing your life is in Godโ€™s hands.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the example of this wise and strong woman in Proverbs 31. Clothe me today in Your strength and dignity. Teach me to trust You with the future, so I can laugh instead of worry. Let my words be wise and full of kindness. May my life reflect Your grace and truth in every season. Amen.

Live Faithfully and Fearless!

“Always concentrate on how far you have come rather than how far you have left to go. The difference in how easy it seems will amaze you.” โ€“ Heidi Johnson

Hello Sassy family! This was laid on my heart to encourage anyone who may feel they are not as far in life as they should be. If thatโ€™s you today, know that you are not alone, and this message is just for you.

Letโ€™s take a moment to breathe and look backโ€”not in regret, but in celebration. This powerful quote by Heidi Johnson is a gentle nudge to shift our focus. Too often, we get caught up in how far we still need to go. But what if we flipped the script? What if we honored every step, every stumble, and every win that brought us here?

That change in perspective. Itโ€™s magic. Suddenly, the road ahead feels less overwhelming and more like a continuation of our amazing journey. So today, give yourself credit. Youโ€™ve come a long wayโ€”and that deserves a round of applause. Keep going, but donโ€™t forget to look back and admire the view.

Soul Food๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ๐Ÿชด๐Ÿ’—โ€ฆHe Is Risenโ€”And So Are We: New Beginnings From Lifeless Places

Hello and Happy Resurrection Day everyone! Something special has been laid on my heartโ€”and itโ€™s for anyone who might be feeling a little stuck, weighed down, or even lifeless in some areas of your journey. Maybe youโ€™re smiling on the outside, but inside, thereโ€™s a place in your heart that feelsโ€ฆhopeless, broken, or dormant. If thatโ€™s you, lean in close.

Letโ€™s sit with this powerful truth from John 11:25โ€“26 (NIV):
โ€œJesus said to her, โ€˜I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?โ€

Jesus spoke these words to Martha in the middle of her grief, after her brother Lazarus had died. She was heartbroken. Confused. Wondering why Jesus didnโ€™t show up earlier. Can you relate? Weโ€™ve all had moments where we wondered if God was late, or worseโ€”silent.

But hereโ€™s the good news: Jesus doesnโ€™t just bring resurrectionโ€”He is the resurrection. And when He shows up, even the dead things must rise.

Easter reminds us that what looks final is never final with God. That area of your life that feels over? The dream that feels buried? The hope thatโ€™s been quietly fading? Jesus is whispering to your heart, โ€œDo you believe this?โ€

And I get itโ€”some days believing is hard. But faith doesnโ€™t require perfection; it just requires trust. Even mustard-seed faith can move mountains, raise Lazarus, and bring you back to life.

So today, whether you’re dancing in joy or limping in faith, I want you to know this: You are not forgotten. You are not too far gone. And your story is not over. The same power that rolled away the stone is alive in you.

This Easter, letโ€™s rise in bold belief. Letโ€™s breathe again. Letโ€™s trust again. Because with Jesus, even our dead ends can become new beginnings.

Stay hopeful, live faithfully, and let your spirit rise.

He is Risen, and so are we.

Love,

๐Ÿ’—Ronni Lauren
