Soul Food πŸ™πŸΎπŸͺ΄πŸ’—… Stay Focused on the Vision: Setting Your Mind on Things Above

In a world full of distractions, it’s easy to lose sight of the bigger pictureβ€”especially when life throws challenges our way. But if there’s one thing that can keep us grounded, clear, and purpose-driven, it’s setting our minds on things above. The Bible calls us to do this in Colossians 3:2: “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”

When we focus on heavenly things, we align ourselves with God’s divine plan and the vision He has revealed to us. This spiritual focus doesn’t just help us navigate life’s ups and downs, it positions us to receive the fullness of what God has in store for us. Here’s why keeping our minds fixed on God’s promises is the key to staying focused on the vision He has for our lives.

1. Heavenly Focus Aligns You with God’s Purpose

When God gives us a vision, it’s a glimpse of His purpose for us. But earthly distractionsβ€”worries, fears, doubtsβ€”can easily cloud that vision. When we fix our minds on things above, we take our attention off temporary concerns and place it on eternal promises. The more we focus on God’s Word, His will, and the truth of who He is, the clearer our vision becomes.

The vision God has for us is often greater than what we can see with our natural eyes. It involves trusting Him to lead us step-by-step, guided by His wisdom, strength, and grace. By setting our minds on heavenly things, we grow in confidence that God’s plan is unfolding in our lives, and we stay anchored in the certainty that His vision will come to pass.

2. It Strengthens Your Faith

The journey to fulfilling God’s vision requires faithβ€”faith to step into the unknown, faith to keep going when things get tough, and faith to trust that God is working all things together for your good. By focusing on things above, we strengthen our faith because we’re reminded of God’s greatness, His promises, and His faithfulness in the past.

When your thoughts are consumed with heavenly things, they become a constant reminder of God’s power and ability to accomplish His will in your life. Just as Hebrews 12:2 tells us to “fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith,” setting our minds on Him keeps our trust in His provision and purpose.

3. It Helps You Overcome Distractions

Life is filled with distractions, and sometimes they come in the form of discouragement, comparison, or even worldly pursuits. It’s easy to become fixated on things that don’t align with the vision God has placed in our hearts. But when we set our minds on things above, we’re able to sift through distractions and focus on what truly matters.

In Matthew 6:33, Jesus teaches us, “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” When we seek God’s kingdom and His purpose above all else, everything else falls into place. The more we focus on Him, the less time and energy we waste on things that don’t contribute to His plan for our lives.

4. It Provides Peace and Direction

Focusing on heavenly things brings a sense of peace that surpasses understanding. In the midst of uncertainty, focusing on God’s promises gives us direction and clarity. We may not always know how everything will unfold, but when we set our minds on things above, we trust that God will lead us through the process.

Isaiah 26:3 assures us that, β€œYou will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast because they trust in you.” When we keep our thoughts fixed on God’s will, we remain anchored in His peace, and that peace helps us stay focused on the vision He has given us.

5. It Fuels Your Passion and Purpose

Setting your mind on things above also reignites your passion for the vision God has placed in your heart. As you meditate on God’s goodness and His eternal promises, your heart becomes more aligned with His will. The distractions of the world become less appealing, and the things that truly matterβ€”serving God, loving others, pursuing the calling He’s given youβ€”take center stage.

When you are focused on God’s heavenly promises, your purpose in life becomes clearer, and that clarity will fuel the energy and motivation you need to keep moving forward in faith. You’ll find that you can’t help but press on, knowing that God is at work, shaping you, and preparing you for what lies ahead.

Conclusion: Keep Your Eyes on the Prize

As you continue to walk in the vision God has revealed to you, remember that the key to staying focused is to set your mind on things above. When you focus on God’s promises, His purpose, and His eternal kingdom, you find the strength, clarity, and peace you need to fulfill His vision for your life.

God has incredible plans for you, and He will equip you to walk them out. So, keep your eyes on the prizeβ€”on the higher calling God has placed before you. Allow your thoughts to be consumed with His glory, His truth, and His love, and watch as He empowers you to fulfill the vision He has uniquely designed for your life.

Stay focused on the things above, and everything else will fall into place.

Live faithfully and focused!

Love,

Soul Food: Stepping Into the Unknown by FaithπŸ™πŸΎπŸͺ΄πŸ’—

“By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.” (Hebrews 11:8, NIV)

Hello, my spiritual family! Many of us can relate to feeling afraid to take a leap of faith into the unknown.

This scripture invites us to reflect on our own faith journey. During times of uncertainty, we must lean on our faith and trust in God. Reflecting on my journey, I can see how God has guided and protected me, revealing each step and directing my path. All we need to do is take that first step.

Like Abraham, we may not always know the exact destination, but we are called to obey and trust that God is leading us toward something greater than we can imagine. Whether it’s a new calling, a difficult season, or a major decision, the story of Abraham reminds us that faith isn’t about certainty but about following God’s lead and trusting Him with the unknown.

Abraham’s faith demonstrates the essence of living by faithβ€”obedience to God’s call without needing all the answers. It challenges us to take steps of faith, trusting in God’s leading even when the path is unclear. Just as Abraham’s journey became the foundation of God’s promises to Israel, our personal faith journey can lay the groundwork for God’s work in our lives and the world around us.

Live faithfully!

Love,

β€œShout with the voice of a trumpet blast. Shout aloud! Don’t be timid.”

Isaiah 58:1 NLT

Hello family! Lately, God has been reminding me of the power of my voice and how important it is to use it as an instrument for his glory. This scripture inspired me, and I hope it does the same for those struggling to find their voice or feeling that it lacks impact. Remember, every voice is unique and carries a special message meant for its audience.

How to Pursue Your Purpose

Hello family! I used to believe that one’s purpose was their livelihood and passion. But as I started pursuing my purpose in my thirties, I discovered that it meant so much more. It is linked to my identity and calling which gave my life a deeper meaning. Not only does it provide a sense of self, but it serves others and honors God.

“For we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

Ephesians 2:10 NKJV

I remember praying many times, asking Him to reveal my purpose and it seemed like my prayer wasn’t answered. I began to feel overwhelmed, thinking that He had no purpose for me because I was shy, quiet, and socially awkward. I have come to realize that every season of my life has been preparation for my purpose.

He genuinely has our best interests at heart, and we need to trust the process and the plan to help us achieve our destiny. Sometimes the process might seem challenging or uncertain, but having faith in the plan and the person behind it can make a big difference. This brings me to the message that I would like to share with you all on how to pursue your purpose.

The first step for me was to commit to living a life that pleases God and allow Him to guide my steps on my purpose journey.  Committing to a purpose-driven life isn’t easy. It is filled with both challenges and growth.  You must decide to leave the old you behind, patterns of thinking, and life habits, and embrace the person he has called you to be. He will prepare you with the character and wisdom necessary to fulfill your purpose at the right time.

β€œAnd do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

Romans 12:2 NKJV

Next, you must align your life with your purpose. My purpose was revealed the more time I spent with God through prayer and meditating on His word. When I decided to commit my life to Him, he began to connect the dots of my past and present to my purpose. He is waiting for you to surrender your will and say yes to walking in your purpose.

β€œFor we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

Ephesians 2:10 NKJV

In addition, you must let go of fear. I must admit that when God revealed my purpose to me, I was fearful and in denial that I was the person called to fulfill it. It involved using the one thing that I avoided the most, which was my voice. At times I still feel that I’m unworthy of the purpose and plan that God has for my life, but I’m learning to silence the noise of my negative thoughts. I am reminded that His grace is sufficient in my weakness and that my purpose is much bigger than me.

β€œFor God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.”

2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV

Last, if you’ve ever felt discouraged about your purpose, don’t be afraid because you were created specifically for it. This scripture encourages me to keep walking in my calling when I get discouraged and I hope that you are too.

If you’ve ever felt discouraged about your purpose, remember that you were created specifically for it. This scripture inspires me to stay true to my calling even in challenging times, and I hope it encourages you too. May you stay motivated and steadfast in the pursuit of your unique purpose.

β€œBeing confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

Philippians 1:6 NKJV

All you must do is say YES to your purpose, and He will do the rest.

Live Purposefully,

πŸ’—Ronni Lauren

β€œI have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle.

The wise sometimes goes hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives. It’s all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time.”

Ecclesiastes 9:11 NLT

Hello family! I don’t know who needs encouragement today, but I felt led to share this scripture with anyone who might be facing an uncomfortable and difficult stage in their journey to the promise.

I understand that during this season, you may feel overwhelmed and as though God is not present. It might seem like everywhere you turn, everyone else’s time has come to live out their dreams.

In times like these, I’ve learned to seek God more, and He reminds me through scriptures and inspirational messages that He is there and that his favor will help me navigate through the difficult season.

We must not get distracted by what we see happening around us or how far along others are on their life path. God is in control, so we must let go of what is beyond our control. Keep your eyes on the promise.

There is an appointed time for your suffering to end and for the promise to be fulfilled. If we trust in Him, He will reveal the purpose behind every experience, give us the strength to endure the journey, and equip us with the wisdom to embrace the promise.

Be blessed,

Ronni LaurenπŸ’—
